Why I Spin

Excited. That's how I'm feeling right now. Happy, nervous, and excited. My flag is in my hands, silk blowing in the wind as I stand set in the middle of the field. There are band members around me along with other guard members. It's the start of our show.

This is the moment we have been waiting for, the moment I've been waiting for. We've got this. Remembering our pep talk I smile with me face pointing to the press box. The moment we 'sassafrassed' I thought back on all of our hard work up to this point. Color guard camp, band camp, practices, parades, countless hours put into this activity. Countless bruises and injuries. Now, it's our time to win.

I scan the crowd as they cheer. The music starts and we're on our way.

Counting in my head, I spin my flag, jazz run, dance, and be sassy. Careful to look good, yearbook photographers take pictures of us on the field performing. To have a little more fun, I make faces at fellow guard members to get them to smile, too.

When it comes to one of the harder drill charts or tosses, I make sure to perform everything that much more. When I nail it, I get so happy. This is a great performance. This is why I spin. It makes all the pain worth while.

As the last song comes to a close, I am proud of my guard. No matter how many mistakes there were we did our best and performed every last second. So proud.

We jazz walk off the field  to a drum cadence with our heads held high, smiling. We salute to the judges making sure they know we are serious about our performance and what we brought to the field. Now, we wait. Although relieved to be done, we have to wait and see our scores. Will we get best guard, drums, marching? Hopefully.

As the scores are announced, we are silent. The whole band. When the judges announce us as best we erupt in cheers and clapping. One word: overjoyed. It all payed off. Next, doughnuts.

L Is For Lemonade

Hey, Lovelies!

Many people associate lemonade with summer, and they are right. But, they are also wrong. Lemonade is not just for summer, it is perfect for fall.

Honest, I can probably drink lemonade any time of the year. It is one of my favorite drinks.

So go out and drink some lemonade. It's good for you and tastes good!

That's it for now. Promise to do another post like this in a bit. Feel free to leave a comment sharing something off your bucket list. Bye :)

Oh, Autumn!

Let's get serious now. I have waited for Autumn all summer. It is the bearer of many things; mostly good and some not so much. The air is crisp and the smell of food is all that much more present. School starts, sweaters and leggings are a must, and football games are the highlight of your week. For us band geeks, it brings practice, performances, and band laps. Holidays are in the mix somewhere too, not to mention the piles of homework we all leave until last minute. Hey, we're all about honesty here.

When I think about Autumn I think about people, performing, family visits, and ways to become more me. I think about cool nights and colorful leaves. I think about how I have the most fun in Autumn. I really don't think you understand. That is unless you have this Autumn loving disease with me.

Here's a bit of what I am looking forward to this Autumn.

  • Viking Volunteers events and activities other than the usual recycling jazz such as trick or treat so others can eat and the fall leaf rake.
  • Performing in color guard even when it is down pouring rain. Side note: will be looking forward to it more once our show is done and we don't look so ridiculous in front of everyone we know.
  • Participating in spirit week for homecoming at school.
  • Visiting with family who only come to Michigan where I live once a year. <3 Newsflash: They aren't coming this year. Just found out.
  • Getting to know all the foreign exchange students at my school. I think they are awesome and interesting and well, I could go on for a while so I'll stop.
  • Drinking hot chocolate before bed after late night events like the homecoming dance or a football game.
  • Fall fashion including fashion week. I love seeing what others are wearing/loving and being inspired by it.
  • Actually talking to people unlike how the entire of my summer went. This point could also be a downside if you think about it.
  • Decorating for the holidays. I love seeing the different decorations people put on their homes as long as they put them up and take them down within reasonable timing. And, I love decorating, too!
  • Hayrides and pumpkin carving. Enough said.
Well, there you are! Some great reasons to be happy and excited for fall. Talk to you later, Scouts!
Bye :)

Anything And Everything

Hi, gals and guys alike.

Lately, for me, everything has been a blur. The first two weeks of school, the hazy days that are upon us. Pretty much everything. To be a junior. I'm telling you. But, I have done a few fun things that I will tell you all about. Plus, my classes that I am taking this year.

First of all, yesterday I went shopping. Yes, again, but this time I had a strict purpose. Then, I bought some things unplanned. Anyways, I went shopping for my homecoming dress and ended up getting that AND my prom dress, a pair of shoes, and a top. What can I say? Nothing. I can't say anything.
Now, here are photos of the shoes and top, but you won't be seeing the dress for homecoming until about the 14th of October and the prom dress not until April. I promise I will show you! But not for now.

The shoes:

The top

I find both of these items great for fall. The shoes, a classic. The top is a great piece for layering.

Next, my classes. Going into the third week of school, everyone's classes are pretty much set in stone at this point. Therefore, knowing they won't spontaneously change, I feel as if I can share them with you with certainty.
First hour is band, which you probably have already figured out I was in by reading my posts or going to school with me.
Second hour is my most dreaded hour. Physics. I don't understand it even though I want to with all my heart.
Third hour is my favorite hour. Honors English 11 with a great teacher and great activities. Reading, writing, all the fun jazz you would expect.
Fourth hour is pre-calculus.  Not my favorite to any degree. Like physics, I don't understand all of it.
Fifth hour is anatomy. I honestly didn't want to take this class as a junior, because I knew I wouldn't be able to enjoy it with everything else going on. But, I'm stuck. And two weeks behind since I was just switched in.
Last is Spanish 1. I actually like this class even though I am in a class made up of mostly freshman boys acting and saying stupid things all the time. But, that is life my friendly blog viewers.

What else can I say? My school's varsity football team lost again, but are getting better every week. I really enjoy the blog: TheGirlinPinkk. I'm really excited for prom as a junior and senior. I still have the instincts to call myself a sophomore instead of a junior. It's rainy and cold and feels like November. Every day during lunch I play pictionary with some other students at my school. There's a foreign exchange student named Piano who is super sweet. I don't know what to be for Halloween this year. I am eating grapes.

Alright, I'll stop. Small talk isn't my specialty anyways. I hope school is going well for you and that you have lots of fun this fall, whatever you have planned. Over and out.
Bye :)

Outfits Of The Week

What's up, Girl Scouts? How's life? Dare I ask how your first week of school was? No, no I don't. Although, this post is about the first week of school. Well, my first week of school outfits. Because, I thought you ought to know. Let's go!

Tuesday:
Tuesday's outfit was my new blue dress with orange polka dots and butterfly cutouts on the back (shoulder blade area) from Burlington. This dress also has pockets! For makeup, I went for a more natural look (like every other day of the week. No need to be or look like a cake face). I also have basic, black, knock-off Toms on my feet.

 Wednesday:
Wednesday I wore a sheer white and orange top with an orange tank underneath. I also wore new jeggings and the same black shoes. I clipped my hair back, wore my 'knot' ring, and did the same basic makeup as Tuesday.

 Thursday:
Thursday was sweater day and probably my favorite day when it came to my outfit. Maybe a close second to Tuesday's dress. I wore my new, black owl sweater with a pair of light wash skinny jeans (also, new). I didn't wear any makeup Thursday and once again I wore my black shoes.

 Friday:
Okay, this was Friday's to-school outfit, not the to-football game outfit. It consisted of a long-sleeve shirt with words including smile, love, live, and dream on the front in a heart, a silver belt, and dark wash, high-rise skinny jeans. And my famous black shoes (I wear them pretty much all the time, okay?) Friday I also curled my eyelashes for something a little extra.

Okay! That was my first week of school outfits of the week. What did you wear the first day of school? I'd love to know, so leave a comment or tweet me a picture. I'll chat to all of you lovely people in a few days or so. Bye :)

I Am...

Hello! In all honesty, I had a very personal post for you today, but in the end I decided that I just wasn't quite ready to share it with you. But, I will eventually when I am good and ready. Instead, I am going to be doing the I Am tag. The I Am tag is a tag that I myself have thought up. Basically, everything starts with I am (because "I am" sounds stronger than "I'm"), and is a fact about yourself as a person or whatever you feel like sharing. So, here we go.

1. I am a vegetarian as of March, 2013.

2. I am dedicated to this blog and, of course, color guard.

3. I am pretty dang proud of who I am despite what people may or may not say behind my back.

4. I am and always will be a perfectionist.

5. I am, as it seems, always reading something or another.

6. I am a participant in my school's volunteer club, Viking Volunteers. I believe that it is good to spend time helping others and the environment.

7. I am in hopes of traveling the world someday and blogging/vlogging about it.

8. I am most happy... sleeping, probably.

9. I am an Aquarius.

10. I am a fan of listening to rain on a tin roof and most types of music.

11. I am always being a bit sassy whether you know it or not.

12. I am often finding myself counting down until something. Band practice, Project Runway, my next blog post... It's always something.

13. I am both really excited and scared for college.

14. I am not sure what I want to study at university or do after right now.

15. I am worried that I am never good enough.

16. I am feeling like there are people in my life that don't deserve to be, because of how they make me feel.

17. I am of many different ethnics, but a few are Native American (not Mexican), French, English, Irish, and Dutch.

18. I am not good at showing people the real me or trusting people, because of my past.

19. I am lucky to have my family.

20. I am not exactly what you would call a hopeful person, but I am trying.

21. I am excited to have children when I'm older.

22. I am finishing this post after my school's second football game. We lost again, but it was really close and we would have won if they didn't run the clock. Probably the best game I have ever attended. Way to go boys!

23. I am almost always eating pasta.

24. I am a socially awkward person.

25. I am done with this post. Sorry I didn't publish anything all week :( Busy, busy bee!

Bye :)

World Changer!

Hello, all! Sadly, it is the last day of summer (for me. I don't know about you). But, I cannot tell a lie, I am really excited for Autumn. Oh, how I love sweater wearing season. Back to the actual topic of this post.

A summer paradise

Favorite summer quote
Favorite summer song
Favorite book
Favorite summer activity
Favorite summer dress
A picture of something I took last summer
Something I really want to do this summer
Favorite swimsuit/bikini
Favorite food
A film
Going to pool or beach
Plans for the holidays
Favorite makeup product
Favorite thing about summer
Favorite summer look
A summer essential
Summer where I live
Fave color for summer
What I’m doing tomorrow
Whatever: It’s (the last day of) summer!

Towards the end of June, I received a bracelet from a college that has been sending me 'recruitment letters' for the past year and a half. I was happy straight away, because I had requested this specific bracelet out of all that were available. Anyways, I had finally got it in the mail and just had to tell someone about it. So, I told my grandma. Long story short, she didn't understand that it wasn't about getting something from a college and, in the end, made me feel less than.

I'll just show you the picture now.

Time for the always so present Grey's Anatomy quote: It's only the voice in your head that matters.
The truth is, I am always being told that I can't do something. That's part of the reason I wanted this bracelet. It almost gives me the confidence I need to think I can and I will actually change the world somehow, despite being told I can't. Because, it doesn't matter what other people think or say.

I hope that you have confidence to do what you want and, yeah, maybe you will change the world. Let's change the world together. :)

Back-To-School: Take That!

Hey, everybody. So, pretty much everyone goes back to school with new clothes and school supplies, and today I'm going to be showing you what I got for my junior year of high school. It's a back-to-school take that!
Ah-hem. But before I start, I would just like to mention the races last night. Let's just say that it was extremely noisy, the stands where you sit were made of old, creaky wood, and by the time the night was over I was covered in a fine layer of dirt. Despite these things, it was an alright trip with the family for Labor Day weekend. Plus, it was a great way to break in my new sunglasses which is the first item of this take that post.

Plus, they're foldable!

Now, I'm going to show you all of the school supplies I got for the new year.
First up is my backpack.
This backpack used to be my aunt's. Now, it's mine.

Love.

These mini composition notebooks are going to be my agendas. I'm starting with the blue. By the way, my school gives everyone an agenda on the first day, but they are big, bulky, and just really annoying to carry around. My alternative is small and is just perfect to keep track of homework assignments.
Moving on to the beauty supplies.

And lastly, all the clothes!

First are my jeans. All skinnies, one high rise, one light wash.

Dresses and sweaters are next.

Last are the new tops.

That's it! Well, for now. Anyways, what are you going to be taking/wearing to school? Now, I'm going to go enjoy the last thirty six hours of my summer vacation! Talk to you tomorrow with the last of the summer tag! Bye :)
